California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (1980 to 2024)

  • 1980: Over 30 members and 7 officers

    Cal Poly receives its Charter, becoming an official student chapter under ASCE.

  • 1981: Newspaper Spotlight

    Cal Poly’s National Engineer Week celebrations received a feature in the SLO County Tribune in February 1981.

  • 1984: Cal Poly Club Showcase

    SCE attended the Showcase to recruit freshmen and show what we do to incoming and current students.

  • 1984: Cal Poly Hosts PSWRC

    Above: Concrete canoe events were hosted at Lopez Lake in SLO County.

  • 1985: Engineering 13 Move-in

    CE/ENVE Facilities move from Aero Hanger to Engineering 13

  • 1988: PG&E Site Visit

    PG&E Hosted Cal Poly SCE in a site visit

  • 1990: Cal Poly Hosts ASCE PSWRC

  • 1994: First Robert Ridgway Award

    Cal Poly wins its first ASCE Robert Ridgway Award, the equivalent of a Collegiate National Championship in Civil Engineering.

  • 1995: Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award

    DeNatale wins ASCE National Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award in inaugural year

  • 1998: National Concrete Canoe Competition

    Cal Poly’s first trip to the ASCE NCCC in Rapid City, South Dakota:

    “ACME Canoe” placed 13th overall.

  • 1999: 3rd at National Student Steel Bridge Competition

    Cal Poly’s second trip to the ASCE AISC NSSBC in Anchorage, Alaska:

    Team places 3rd overall!

  • 2000: ASCE Robert Ridgway Award Winner!

    Cal Poly wins its THIRD ASCE National Community Service Award for the Reservoir Canyon Pedestrian Bridge Project.

  • 2004: ASCE PSWRC Host

    Cal Poly hosts ASCE PSWRC for the third time at the Cal Poly campus.
